T7 7-Inch Vehicle Tablet

The compact 7-inch terminal for tight cabs and guidance work. Built by Shenzhen PDS Technology Co., Ltd. for machines that work outdoors.

What the T7 is built to do

The T7 is the smallest vehicle tablet in the PDS range, built around a 7-inch IPS panel that fits the crowded dashboards of compact tractors, sprayers and utility machines. Five physical keys sit along the front face, so the driver can trigger the functions used most often without hunting through touch menus with gloves on. Behind that compact housing sits a quad-core platform that runs either Android 10 or a Linux build, which lets an integrator pick the same operating environment the rest of the fleet already uses. For guidance work, the T7 accepts an optional UNICORE UM982 RTK module, so a small terminal does not have to mean low positioning accuracy.

Start with the screen, because the operator lives with it in every kind of light. T7 carries 7" IPS, 1024 x 600, brightness 750 cd/m2 or higher, viewing angle 170 degrees or wider, fully laminated multi-touch. Brightness of 750 cd/m2 or higher is the figure that matters at midday in an open cab, and full lamination keeps the touch layer readable when dust films the glass. The panel size also decides how much of the application can stay visible: guidance lines, implement status and camera thumbnails compete for the same estate, and a well-chosen size removes most screen swapping from the driver's routine.

T7 platform, memory and operating system

Under the screen, T7 runs on 64-bit quad-core Cortex-A53 at 1.5 GHz (the product page notes the chip passed the AEC-Q100 test), with 2 GB RAM / 16 GB storage, and Android 10 or Linux 4.9 with QT5. That combination is aimed at the software this class of terminal actually carries: guidance and dispatch clients, implement controllers, telematics and camera viewers. Memory headroom decides how gracefully those apps coexist, so projects planning to stack several of them should read the memory line before the processor line. The operating system choice matters just as much — an integrator with an existing Android or Linux codebase should match the terminal to the codebase, not the other way round.

Fleet builders usually reach for the T7 when the cab is small but the job list is not. It is the terminal PDS shows in spraying and seeding contexts, where the screen carries a guidance line, a rate readout and little else. The front keys matter in that setting: a driver bouncing over a field can press a hard key far more reliably than a small touch target. Buyers comparing the T7 with the larger models should think about information density rather than computing power — if the application shows one map and a handful of values, seven inches is enough, and the smaller housing is easier to mount well.

Positioning and communications on the T7

Positioning and communication decide whether a vehicle tablet is a display or a working terminal. On T7: Multi-constellation GNSS covering BDS B1I/B1C, GPS L1 C/A, GLONASS L1OF, Galileo E1 and QZSS/SBAS; time to first fix under 30 seconds in open sky; CEP under 2 m in open sky; optional UNICORE UM982 RTK module. Alongside that, the communication set is: WiFi 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n; Bluetooth 4.0 BLE; 4G LTE via Quectel module (EU and China band versions). For guidance buyers, the distinction that matters is between standard GNSS accuracy for mapping and logging, and RTK correction for repeatable centimetre-level passes. The option list, not the base unit, is where that decision lives, so name the accuracy your application needs when you ask for a quotation.

Power, sealing and installation on the T7

Vehicle electronics fail at the edges: power, water, dust, heat and vibration. The T7 is specified for 9-36 V DC input (ISO 7637-II); IP66 sealing; operating temperature -20 to +70 C; MIL-STD-810 vibration; ISO 16750 shock; 95% non-condensing humidity. On interfaces, the published set is: Front function keys (five definable buttons); expansion through the rear connector set described in the full specification sheet. The housing measures 220 x 134 x 29 mm (44.15 mm at the highest point). Wide-voltage input with ISO 7637-II behaviour is what lets a terminal survive cranking dips and load dumps on real vehicle electrical systems, and IP66 sealing is what lets it survive pressure washing and harvest dust. Before ordering, walk the interface list against your harness drawing; the cheapest integration problem is the one found on paper.
